The time and associated cost of researching a family tree back to a particular point in time varies from case to case. It may be influenced by the amount of information already known to be factually correct, the number of siblings per generation and the ease with which the family is found amongst the records, to name but a few.


For this reason it is difficult to offer packages of research at a fixed cost. For those who want to see an end product I have defined the Family Tree Package (see below). This package is based purely on the use of 1841-1911 census returns, online General Register Office (GRO) indexes of birth, marriage and death and copies of birth, marriage and death certificates to take a single surname back to the early 1800s or late 1700s. Examples of the report and family pedigree (tree) produced can be found via the links on the left hand side.


For those who have already conducted some research or who wish to start at a lower budget I offer a number of Research Packages which are based on a fixed length of time of research, analysis and reporting. These will begin using the same sources as described above but may be customised to include a consideration of additional online sources such as military records, passenger lists and parish registers if need be.


ALL packages include the birth, marriage and death certificates for all direct ancestors up to the maximum number of certificates detailed below.


ALL packages result in the same standard high quality, detailed and fully referenced report, are sent to the client in a high quality presentation folder and include the cost of UK postage.


Additional research may be added to any package at the standard hourly rate.

FAMILY TREE Package

Genealogy research back up to FOUR generations from the client looking at one surname only.

Typically takes family tree back to late 1700s / early 1800s.

Includes:

  1. •Full report of research including findings, sources examined, GRO references, transcriptions of all certificates obtained and transcriptions of census records

  2. •Copy of the family pedigree (tree) including siblings found from the census records

  3. •Copies of census returns for direct ancestors

  4. •Copies of birth, marriage and death certificates for direct ancestors (up to 15 certificates)

  5. •Presentation folder

Typical documentation received by client: 40-80 pages


Bronze RESEARCH Package

Includes:

  1. •Up to 6 hours research, analysis and reporting

  2. •Up to 5 birth, marriage and death certificates (BMD certificates for one couple / generation)

  3. •Full report of research including sources examined, findings, GRO references and transcriptions of all certificates obtained and transcriptions of census records found

  4. •Copy of the family tree including siblings found from the census records

  5. •Copies of census returns for direct ancestors

  6. •Presentation folder


Silver RESEARCH Package

Includes:

  1. •Up to 11 hours research, analysis and reporting

  2. •Up to 10 birth, marriage and death certificates (BMD certificates for two couples / generations)

  3. •Full report of research including sources examined, findings, GRO references and transcriptions of all certificates obtained and transcriptions of census records found

  4. •Copy of the family tree including siblings found from the census records

  5. •Copies of census returns for direct ancestors

  6. •Presentation folder


Gold RESEARCH Package

Includes:

  1. •Up to 18 hours research, analysis and reporting

  2. •Up to 15 birth, marriage and death certificates (BMD certificates for three couples / generations)

  3. •Full report of research including sources examined, findings, GRO references and transcriptions of all certificates obtained and transcriptions of census records found

  4. •Copy of the family tree including siblings found from the census records

  5. •Copies of census returns for direct ancestors
