How can I help you?
Please contact me with any initial queries and I will provide a no obligation quotation free of charge.
With the exception of family tree packages, all types of family history research are conducted according to my current hourly rate.
I conduct research at Cambridgeshire Archives, Cambridge University Library, the Cambridgeshire Collection, Suffolk Record Office at Bury St Edmunds and Essex Archives without additional travel costs. A small charge is included within the first hour's fee to cover parking costs.
Travel charges for other local record offices are calculated by mileage and further details are available on request. I will advise in advance of any costs associated with travel.
Documents are supplied at cost price. Where copies of documents are required and a definite cost of these cannot be determined upfront, the cost will be deducted from the amount paid and the amount of research reduced accordingly on a pro rata basis.
I accept payments by cheque (UK clients only), bank transfer and credit card.
Please make cheques payable to “Dr Karen Cummings”.
Where clients choose to pay by bank transfer ALL fees are to be paid by the client.
For commissions of £100 or lower full payment is required in advance of any research to secure a research slot.
For commissions over £100 the following terms apply:
Once a package or program of work has been agreed and you have informed me of your chosen method of payment I will send out an appropriate invoice.
If the initial payment required is not received in a timely manner any time estimate for research provided at the time of enquiry may change.
Please also see the Terms of Service.
I have known Karen Cummings for only a short while, and she has undertaken two projects researching my Suffolk family roots. Both successful, on time and within budget. She is meticulous and highly professional and has extracted information for which I have been searching on and off for about five years. If you are unsure of where to turn to next, Karen is there with guidance as to strategy while letting you feel that you are in control. There is further work to be done and I have no hesitation in saying that Karen will be my first choice as a researcher.
